Multi-Disciplinary Team
The Multi-Disciplinary Team provides consultative therapy
services to the students enrolled in our 6 schools,
their families and our teaching staff.
The team consists of speech pathologists and occupational
therapists, who are based in one of the three school therapy
team units. Two regional teams provide services to our schools
located outside the Sydney metropolitan area. One team is
located in the Wollongong area to service our South Coast
school community, and another based across the Central Coast
and Newcastle regions, to service our Hunter and Central Coast
schools. The "metro" team services our three schools
based in the Sydney metropolitan region - Western Sydney,
Vern-Barnett, and South East Sydney.
Members of the school therapy team work collaboratively with
families, teachers, school counsellors, other professionals
and Aspect staff to ensure optimal educational, behavioural,
and communicative outcomes for all students.
Therapists are involved in a range of direct and indirect
services including consultative IEP (Individual Educational
Program) and class programming input, staff, parent and community
education, home based programming, and resource development
as required.
Family Counselling
A family counselling service provides a range of services
primarily to the families of children within Aspect schools.
The team consists of Family Counsellors/Psychologists, who
are based at each of the organisation's schools.
The Family Counsellors/Psychologists provide support services
to their school community, including families and teachers;
as well as limited support to families whose children are
on the service demand (waiting) list for placement at an Aspect
school. Psychologists in the Family Support Services also
provide diagnosis and assessment within Aspect schools.
Members of the Family Support Team work collaboratively with
families, other professionals and Aspect staff to provide
a range of services including:
- counselling
- advice on advocacy services
- staff and parent training and education
- resource development
- programming support
