The Official Opening of Autism Awareness
Week 2005 was held at Tattersalls Club, Sydney on
Monday. The Guest of Honour was The Hon. John Della Bosca,
Minister for Ageing and Minister for Disabilities representing
the Premier of NSW. Guest speakers on the day were Autism
Spectrum Australia's Founding Chairman Dr. Andrew Vern Barnett
and parent Linda Johnston. An excerpt from the satellite broadcast

The launch featured
an exhibition of artwork by children and adults with an ASD,
celebrating their talent and achievements. The artwork was
also on display at Aspect schools during the following two
weeks.
“Early intervention is an important strategy for working with people with ASD and their families. There is strong evidence when we use early intervention we can better support families and carers,” Mr Della Bosca said. |
